Initially, she couldn’t picture herself posing in a tiny bikini. In the early 1980s, she was inspired by photos of female bodybuilders, especially of Rachel McLish, to whom Michiko bore a striking resemblance. She has been a SPFX body paint model and performance specialist for over a 15 years, and is a prolific NZ burlesque artist, known for her innovative, avant-garde and physically brilliant performances that she has brought to the industry over the past decade. But all these alter egos just serve to fill the gaps between those times when she gets to.

She is a regular on the Auckland Theatre Company stage and most recently the arena-extravaganza Pleasuredome: The Musical, and works as an actor & stunt performer on major feature films such as The Hobbit, Mortal Engines and Ghost In The Shell and TV series such as Ash vs Evil Dead and Spartacus. Hannah Tasker-Poland has been a burlesque dancer, an elf and the ass-kicking star of a video game. Hannah is the Director of arts company projectMUSE and is currently developing her first full-length dance-theatre work of the same name debuting in November 2019.Ī graduate of Unitec (BA PASA Contemporary Dance), her dance background includes Atamira Dance Company, Borderline Arts Ensemble, Footnote NZ Dance, World of Wearable Arts, Southern Lights Dance Company and as a founding member of The New Zealand Dance Company from 2012 - 2015.
